Eddie Van Halen never got the all encompassing Van Halen reunion he had hoped for during his lifetime, but his estranged former bandmates appear to be angling for the next best thing.

Original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony confirmed last year that he had begun speaking again to Alex Van Halen.

And in a new interview with The Jeremy White Podcast, Anthony revealed that he would have reunited with David Lee Roth a year ago if it weren't for a scheduling conflict.

"When he did his residency stuff in Las Vegas out here — of course it turned out where I couldn't do it anyway; I think Sammy [Hagar]... we had something going on with The Circle — but I was actually going to show up and see about going up onstage and jamming with Dave," Anthony said.

"I've got no beef with any of the guys about any of that stuff, you know. At this point in the career, and in my life, it's like, 'Hey, I'll play it all.' I'm sure if it came up, if it was the right situation, let it happen."

Historically speaking, Roth and Hagar get along about as well as orange juice and toothpaste, but even the two singers showed signs of reconciliation after Eddie's passing.

Hagar reconnected with Eddie personally in early-2020 and has said that he'll do whatever it takes to be involved in a possible tribute to Eddie when concerts return, even if it means sharing a stage with Roth.
