One of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, has passed away at the age of 73.

The family's statement reads, "It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep."

The guitarist created Fleetwood Mac along with Mick Fleetwood in '67. Since then the group has had amazing hit songs. Among which are 'Black Magic Woman' and 'Need Your Love So Bad.'

The group was originally known as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac featuring Jeremy Spence. However due to the length of the name it was made simpler with just Fleetwood Mac, several years later.

Peter left the group in 1970.
