On Friday (June 12), Tom Morello took a break from posting about politics on Instagram to share a joyful throwback photo of himself and his "old friend" Chris Cornell.

"Havin’ a laugh back in the day with an old friend," he wrote alongside a candid photo of his late Audioslave bandmate helping him out on an acoustic guitar, both displaying giant grins across their faces. This isn't the only tribute Morello has given Cornell lately. On May 18 he commemorated the third anniversary of Cornell's death with an excerpt of the eulogy he wrote, and a couple weeks prior shared a photo of the singer to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Audioslave's historic show in Cuba.

Unsurprisingly, Morello has been quite vocal following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers last month. He's praised his hometown of Libertyville, Illinois for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement while also recalling his own horrific experiences with racism as a youth; reminded critics of his political science degree from Harvard; championed a 10-year-old girl's Rage Against The Machine Cover, and sparked an entertaining discussion on Twitter about how some people didn't realize RATM was a political band until now.
