The NZ Herald is reporting Apple has issued a voluntary recall of its wall plug adapters because of a risk of electric shock.

The AC wall plug adapters are two-pronged and designed to be used in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and South Korea.

The affected wall plug adapters have 4 or 5 characters or no characters on the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter.

These wall plug adapters shipped from 2003 to 2015 with Mac and certain iOS devices.

The adapters could break and there was risk of electric shock, Apple said.

Apple advised customers to stop using affected plug adapters and it would provide a redesigned adapter to all affected customers.
